Sampling Blade
From research to equipment
The Sampling Blade was developed through two rounds of Innovate UK funding to support Border Force in their detection of clandestine people smuggling in hard-sided vehicles. We developed the sampling blade, a thin hollow blade that passes around a door seal, allowing an air sample to be taken for CO2 analysis.
Border visits and real-world testing informed development, and The Imagination Factory took the tool from concept into in-house manufacture for UK Border Force.
