Simplifying the brief through prototyping
At PDD, I helped reframe a brief for a compact ski lock. During a stakeholder workshop, the discussion had become focused on increasingly complicated attachment systems. By examining how skis and poles interacted, I identified a simpler locking opportunity and built a rough prototype to demonstrate it.
That concept progressed into the final product with little fundamental change, creating a pocketable deterrent to opportunistic theft.
