Rail technology and venture development

PlasmaTrack developed high-power plasma technology to remove leaf contamination from railway tracks. I was involved from the first grant-funded research in 2016 through to 2023, helping develop the commercial proposition, investor relationships and industry partnerships. I served as Non-Executive Director from 4 March 2020 to 6 September 2023.

The programme progressed through laboratory development and live-track trials. When the microwave-plasma approach proved complex and unreliable, I advocated exploring DC plasma, which became the subsequent technical direction. My contribution combined commercialisation, fundraising and strategic judgement with board governance.
